Artisan creator of backstrap loom

Carlos learned this trade from his mother. Tradition and respect for color are very important in this workshop, because it is a sign of identity of his town.

Still, they are open to changing their traditional color combinations.
Offering an infinite variety of products and finishes.

This workshop focuses on backstrap loom textiles, specifically those made from wool, but the passion they have for their work is such that they work with all types of fibres.

Value is very important, both from our children to our tradition with colors. Carlos

This is how he makes the pieces

Innovation and design rooted in tradition.

When working with wool, the women in this workshop are responsible for selecting, washing, dyeing and spinning the freshly sheared skeins.

Once in the workshop, the warp threads are mounted on the backstrap loom, so that weaving can begin.

The backstrap loom is attached to the wall at one end and to the waist of the person working on it at the other. The weft threads are intertwined with the warp, creating the different patterns of the fabric.

When each row is interlaced, the weft must be tightened to ensure good resistance of the fabric.
