Artisan creator of painted clay
He learned from his father, who then learned from his mother, whom he asked to teach him the traditional technique as it was becoming lost.
In Artemio's workshop, the pieces are still made in the traditional way, baking them in wood-fired ovens at a low heat for 8 hours.
This is how he makes the pieces
A family tradition that has managed to unite a family in their workshop.
Artemio collects clay from the land of Juancito, his town, but he does it at certain times of the year, so that it is of higher quality.
Using molds that vary depending on the pieces they are going to make, they make these molds beforehand to shape the clay.
Once they have shaped the pieces with clay using their hands and the moulds they have used, they are placed in a wood-fired oven to be fired.
Once the pieces are fired, they are painted and decorated with natural pigments, fired again and polished by hand to give them that special, natural shine.
The pieces made by Artemio
A family that shares its legacy with its pieces.
