Artisan creator of burnished clay
His work means tradition and pride. He works with passion on each of the pieces. First he moulds them and as he shapes them he visualises what drawing he will make on each one.
He generally depicts scenes of Pátzcuaro and fishermen from the lake, fish and flora, wanting to capture his Purépecha family roots.
This is how he makes the pieces
A workshop that does not sleep when Cecilia starts working on a piece.
Cecilia prepares the clay she uses to make her pieces. With a mixture of powdered clay and water, it will become the perfect mass to mould her ideas and ancestral designs.
Once the clay is prepared, it is put into molds or onto a lathe, where with the delicacy of her hands, the shapes of Cecilia's future pieces begin to appear.
The moulded pieces are placed in the family wood-fired oven in his workshop, to be fired in an artisanal way, and then move on to the next step of painting with a brush. Where he recreates everyday scenes of fishermen, typical Purépecha families...
When the paint is dry, she bakes the pieces again in a wood-fired oven, and only the last step remains: burnishing the piece or enameling it, so that it has the shine that Cecilia gives to each of her creations.
